Hello!

I'm Jason Mullinax, and Music Discovery Lab is my school, my studio, and my ongoing experiment.

I've been playing drums for nearly 40 years, and teaching for more than a decade. I launched Music Discovery Lab in 2015 as a way to bring all of my passions together with the genuine belief that music belongs to everyone.

In 2021, I relocated from the DC/Maryland area to Chapel Hill, NC, where MDL found its permanent home: a dedicated studio space where I teach privately and develop programming for schools and community partners across the Triangle.

When I'm not teaching you can find me cooking, traveling, digging through thrift stores, binging horror movies, playing video games, strumming my ukes,  or spending time with my family.
